Els De Roij-Hanssen – Board Member

My name is Els De Roij-Hanssen and since the end of 2024 I have been a member of the board of Stichting Heinz Bijzondere Vakantiereizen. I am the mother of a daughter and a son, and the proud grandmother of two wonderful grandsons. In daily life I work as a nursing assistant at Meander. Before that I worked at SGL, where I met Heinz. We always had good contact, and for years he asked me if I wanted to go on a trip with the foundation.

First trip and board membership

In October 2024, I finally took the plunge and went on the trip. That experience did me a world of good. I found it special to see how much impact such a holiday has on the guests, but also what it does to you as a volunteer. When I was asked to become a board member after that trip, I thought about it for a while, discussed it with my husband and decided to take on the challenge. It felt like a logical step, and a great way to get even more involved.

My commitment to the foundation

Since then I have been involved in various parts of the foundation. For example, I visit schools with Heinz to motivate and enthuse interns to go on a trip. It is great to show young people how valuable and special these holidays are.

At Stichting Heinz we believe that everyone has the right to a holiday, regardless of age or care needs. The entire team is committed to this. We hope to see you on one of our trips - as a guest, volunteer or intern. You are most welcome!
